Happy May Day!
Did you ever deliver May Day baskets? We always did when I was little. I have not done it in years and I have since moved from the area that I grew up, so I don't know if the tradition has faded or if it was just in our area. We always used to make our May Day baskets from paper cones so I wanted to make one today.

You can download instructions for the cone by clicking Here!

Cone Did you every make a May Day basket? Share your May Day story in the comments section below and I will pick one comment at random to receive a May Day gift. I will close the comments Monday, May 3rd at 8:00 eastern.

  1. I’m a 5th & 6th grade special education teacher. In years past, I have had my students make May Day baskets, but nothing like this one. It would be a picture of a weaved basket, that they would color. We would only glue the sides and bottom down, so they could fill it with treats. They usually gave it to their parents. I haven’t done one in awhile, but this reminded me of the fun we had making one. Maybe on Monday I’ll them make one :O)

Your basket is gorgeous! I can’t wait to make one like yours.

    Thanks for your pattern!

I remember giving out May Day baskets with a friend when we were in 4th grade. It was new to me and we had fun creating and then giving out our baskets. They were cones too, but nothing like your gorgeous creation! I’ve lived in several states since then but no May Day basket have been seen.
