How Do You Use Patterned Paper? Small Pieces.

Papillon Potpourri, Make A Cake Birthday-wishesMy first thought when I received the Patio Party Designer Series Paper was  how am I am going to use such busy paper. The patterns are beautiful but I find it hard to work with paper that has so much going on.

I have learned that with busy paper it is much easier for me in small doses. I cut the fun banner paper from Patio Party with one of the Label Framelits and it adds the right about of pattern.

The strip under the butterfly is also patterned paper, but I picked a strip of the more simple patterns so the butterfly would show up better.

Did you think that I cut out that butterfly? No way! It is one of the butterflies from the beautiful Papillon Potpourri set. Three of the butterflies included in that set can easily be punched out with the Elegant Butterfly punch.

Check back tomorrow for a different card with the Papillon Potpourri set. I love butterflies and have been seeing so many great ideas with them lately! If you want to purchase your own set check out the links below.

I have the perfect person in mind for the card. I might even have to send it early so I don't forget and then it never gets sent. That doesn't ever happen to you, does it?

Love love this card! I really like this stamp set and the DSP but I worry a little about this very thing! So thanks so much for demonstrating this technique – back on my wish list it goes.

I was wondering – that is the Fancy Fans embossing folder right?(sorry if that name isn’t exactly right
    – I am in the process of moving and can’t find my catty). Did you out it through the BS sideways? I have an original Sizzix and I know it won’t fit but am considering the Big Shot. This versatility would make it an easier choice. Or… Did you just emboss and then turn the PAPER? I guess that works too! XD

  2. That is the Fancy Fan embossing folder. It does not fit through the Big Shot sideways because the new folders are a bit longer. I did trim about 1/4″ off the end so that it would fit through sideways. You could wrap the back of the card to the backside, but I am not always happy with the results.

Is the width of the original Sizzix narrower than the Big Shot?
