The theme for the Splitcoast Stampers VSN night was back to the 80's and all of the challenges had an 80's theme to them. That was a lot of fun for me because the 80's were my high school days and it was a trip down memory lane. The hostesses for each challenge picked winners for her challenge. My card posted in the last post with the window was one of the winning cards in that challenge.
I am posting the other two challenge cards that I made.
Today I am posting my samples from Splitcoaststampers Virtual Stamp Night.
It was my first time participating in Splitcoaststampers VSN. Every 45 minutes they post a different challenge that you have 45 minutes to complete. It puts a different spin on trying to complete a specific project in 45 minutes. Tonight will be another VSN on Splitcoaststampers so if you want to join in click here: Splitcoaststampers.
My first sample is a post-it note holder.
This sample is using something clear. I stamped on acetate with Stazon ink to make the window. When the card is closed the red flower overlays the rose flower below. The acetate is mounted between the top two layers of cardstock. I used the Fiskars cutter to cut out the window.
The challenge for this sample was to use a beverage in the card. I have
used the glass from Sparkling Summer so much lately that I pulled out
the old Simply Summer set. It was fun to use an old set.
Tonight will have new challenges, but I am not sure how many I will be able to do. I guess I still need to work on the spacing of my post. This does not look exactly like I would like it, but I think you get the ideas.
I am used to using the narrower ribbon, but when I ordered the Seaside ribbon it comes with this very pretty wide ribbon. I have already used up the ultra thin stitched brown ribbon and was kind of stumped on the wide ribbon. (I had a little piece left here to tie on to the hardware.) Today I received my Stampin' Up! newsletter and they had a sample using a piece of the wide ribbon and I just loved it. I took their sample and modified it a little for my design.
The Quirky Quips set was on my first order, but I had not used it yet. I really like how this sample turned out. There is a little edge of blue the overhangs the end, but it did not show up from the angle I took the picture.

Last night I demonstrated this card at my workshop. I love the chipboard letters and they are a lot of fun to dress up. I thought it would be fun to use the "f" for a friend card because I consider this group friends. The one hard part is that the On Board Simon letters only come with one piece of each letter. So to recreate the card and have another "f", I took the negative of the letter and traced it on to some chipboard that came with a package of forms and then cut it out. This letter is a little bit thinner, but it looks fine once it is "dressed" up.
The chipboard is also great on scrapbook pages. See my New Products, New Pages post. In that layout, I used a brayer to color the chipboard letter and then I stamped on it.
Another card idea using Natural Beauty. I have to try this set with different colors, but I have been having fun using the color Cranberry Crisp. I have several new sets and it is hard not to have the time to play with them all!
I am hoping to get several new cards done over the next few days. We are done vacationing for a while, so I should be at home a little bit more in August.
