Chalk Pastel Class

Here is the card I used to show an example of chalk pastels with a VersaMark pad. This is only one of the techniques that will be learned at the Chalk Pastel class being offered on Thursday, March 15th at The Bluffs in Houghton. The other techniques will be beyond coloring in with pastels. Each person will make 4 trading cards with directions and 4 greeting cards. So Very & Big Pieces

This photo card uses both the Big Pieces from the Winter Mini-Catalog and So Very from the Sell-A-Bration catalog. This card size works perfect for my family. (You can click on the picture of the card to make it larger.) I can fit each child on one page. These photo cards are so fun to put together and I think pretty fun for the recipient. I have made photo cards for grandparents in the past.

A side note that the Winter Mini-Catalog and Sell-A-Bration catalogs are ending on Wednesday.

Another Page Done

One part of demonstrating stamps that I really appreciate is that I get many scrapbook pages done at workshops. This a page showcasing the sets "Be Happy" and "Letterpress" I recently did at a workshop.

I  like using the large the large alphabet sets for the titles on my scrapbook pages. I usually do a shorter title or part of a title with the large letters. There are several styles of large letters available in the 2006-2007 catalog & idea book.

Wedding Invitation

Recently someone asked me about how she could do a wedding invitation. I came up with a few different options. Most of the samples used "French Flair" or "Carte Postale". If you have a wedding coming up take a look at these sets and don't miss out on your chance to order these sets. Both of these sets can be found in the current mini-catalog that ends at the end of February along with Sell-A-Bration.

This sample uses the French Flair background set and the coordinating wheel. It is stamped in white on vellum and tied with a silver ribbon. The main part of the invitation is stamped with silver ink on white card stock. The white card stock is layered on to silver card stock.

Winter Mini-Catalog ending

In my last newsletter I included a link to the Spring Mini-Catalog coming out now. It is always exciting to see the new stamp sets and products coming out, but that also means that the Winter Mini-catalog is coming to an end. This is card is a modified tri-fold that uses the Carte Postale set from the Winter Mini. This set is very elegant and works wonderfully for wedding cards. It has a coordinating wheel, background stamp and designer paper. With this grouping you can create so many beautiful projects because of all the products designed to work together. Watercolored Girl

Here is one of the cards from last night's watercolor class. We had a lot of fun using different techniques with the watercolor crayons. I like the watercolor crayons because it is such an easy way to make my cards and scrapbook pages like works of art.

I will be doing a chalk pastel class in March. Look for the pastel class details and other class options coming next week.

Spring Mini-Catalog

I received my pre-order of  products from the Spring Mini-Catalog and played with the Petals & Paisleys designer paper and Long notes. These notes are fun because the fold is on the short side and comes with envelopes. I have heard of people creating quick photo cards with these cards. I will have to explore that option. I have also used the Polka Dots & Paisley set that will also be available in the Spring Mini-Catalog.

Do you have your card made?

Valentine's day is coming! Believe it or not, I don't always make a Valentine's Day card for my husband. I am in this business and have enough supplies for more cards than I will ever need in my life and I do not always get my cards done. Well this year I am ready for Wednesday. I saw this layout done with this stamp from the Living Large set done by Jen Balcer on Splitcoaststampers.com and just loved it, so I decided to make it for far away family. Now, if I just was as thin (or somewhat) as this woman wouldn't things be great.  I changed the colors and one stamp slightly, but it is pretty much the same.

My card sample is the 6"x3.75" and designed to fit into an envelope made from the five in one template. This is a really nice size. I think I will have to pick out a nice designer paper to make the envelope.

Two Cousins

If you attended one of my workshops in January, you most likely saw a form of this scrapbook page. I was highlighting the Big Deal Alphabet and the Big Blossom stamp. I want to put this page into Kaleigh's scrapbook and I use an 8 1/2 x 11"  album so I had to alter the page to fit into her book. I love the Big Blossom stamp for scrapbook pages.

My Swap Card

This is the card that I made for a swap using the Polka Dots and Paisley set. This set will be in the Spring Mini-Catalog and part of a bundle special in March.

I used the small corner rounder to do the black scalloped card stock. To do the scallop, you carefully remove the placement guard and line up the punch across the edge as you punch.
