Can You Use Hearts After Valentine's Day?

 

 

Happy Valentine's Day! This is the banner we made in my Valentine's Class in January.

I was thinking the other day about the Heart Framelits I love and wondering how much I will use them after Valentine's Day. So, my challenge to myself today is to create a card with the Heart Framelits that is not for Valentine's Day.

The Box Bottom You Don't Want To Miss For Stampin' Up!'s Fancy Favor

I love this make and take from Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference. The box bottom pattern they gave us is so easy and makes the most darling gift box. It is perfect for giving that little gift or treat.

With Valentine's Day coming up there will be so many opportunities coming up to give this box. It may be a great idea to have several on hand for that last minute gift.

Doily Triple Layer Snowballs and You Can Make a cute Home Decor Piece!

Do you want snow? We have it for you! It has been snowing for days! It hasn't been bad like a storm, but it has been steady. All the snow and a snowman from the Demonstrator Stampin' Success magazine reminded me of this cute idea I have seen at craft shows.

The cute snowballs start as a styrofoam ball and are covered with Whisper White Card Stock punched out with the Doily Triple Layer punch. I first covered the balls with the base layer punch. Then I punched some of the 3rd layer doily shapes (slide the lever all the way to the right) and hot glued them to the balls to add the details.

The label for the candle holder was made with some of the Chalkboard Decor Elements sheet. You receive 2 sheets of 14" X 24" raw chalkboard decor elements. I cut it down and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Top Note Die. I used a chalk marker to write on the label. When winter is over (about May) I can erase the label and use it for something else. I have a lot of time to think about it.

Tip: I did find it easier to glue the card stock to the ball if the fibers had been weakened. I either squished them into a ball or placed the card stock on a foam mat and used stylus to soften them.

Mica Flakes on a Mason Jar! Simple Tea Light Candle Jars.

I saw this idea out there on the web and wanted to give it a try. I had Mason Jars in my craft area so I figured they would work. I had found these perfect larger tea light candles at Ikea and figured they would work inside the jars.

I painted the bottom of the jar with Gesso and then sprinkled some of the Mica Flakes over the wet paint. Let them dry. I then did spray them with a Matte Finish Spray to prevent them from flaking off the jar.

The First Edition Designer Paper that is wrapped around the jar started at about 2 1/4" X 12". I tore the top and bottom edges until they were down to 1 3/4". Highlight the torn edges with some of the Tea Stain ink from the Vintage Kit. I wrapped the paper around the jar and used mini-glue dots to adere it to the jar.

The twine is wrapped around the jar twice and then tied into a knot. I stamped the "peace on earth" from the Jolly Jingles Wheel on to Very Vanilla Card stock and then punched it out with a wide oval punch. It is matted with a piece of Real Red card stock cut out with one of the tags from the Lots of Tags Sizzlit.

I used a Real Red marker to color the one sentiment from the Jolly Jingles Wheel and stamped it. I did take the wheel apart and have directions for how to do that in this post.

I could even see leaving the tag off and lining them up on a deck. I hope we have our deck finished by next winter and then I can put them outside. This year they will have to be inside.

Use the Stocking Die With An Ikea Blanket For A Gorgeous Christmas Stocking.

This holiday stocking is Clean and Simple styled and so easy to make with the Stocking Die for the Big Shot. When I was shopping at Ikea over the weekend I saw a beautiful white fleece blanket for only $3.49 and thought it was such a great price, but I didn't need a white fleece blanket. I walked away and then decided, that it may be a great way to get fleece to make projects. 

My first project is the simple white stocking cut out with the stocking die and sewed together. A great feature of working with fleece is that you can cut the fabric and do not need to worry about finishing off the edge. I simply made a quick straight stitch around the edge of the stocking and the two ends of the cuff. I used fabric glue to glue the cuff to the stocking. I also used fabric glue to add the holly leaves and stitched on the hanging string.

I still have lots of fabric "blanket" left. It is going to be fun coming up with more ideas for the fleece.

Did you survive? I made it through! Shopping Inspired Crafting.

Ok, I really did not fall of the earth over the weekend, but I did do a lot of shopping! Really, a lot of shopping. I did my part to help the economy and finished Christmas Shopping. When I started on Friday I only had a couple things done for all 5 kids, but I managed to get it all done over the weekend.

I took in a lot of ideas for stamping and paper crafting while I was out shopping. I saw these darling vintage glitter ornaments at Pottery Barn Kids and knew that I could make my own version and even add to them. Pottery Barn catalogs and stores are full of inspiration.

I've decided to make an initial for each member of our family with the Glimmer Paper. Makes glitter a snap. If you do not like to work with glitter, Glimmer Paper is the answer!

The back of the ornament is chipboard covered with Real Red card stock and a Lattice Die also cut out of Real Red card stock. I spritzed the background with Vanilla Smooch. It looks better in real life.

 Now I cannot wait to put up our Christmas Tree. Brian will have to head out in the back and soon and cut down a tree.

Candy Folder Made with Easy Folds! Love the Glitter!

Ok, I am on a glitter roll! This easy candy holder is so cute and quick to make. You can put them together so quickly that you will want to make them for everyone on your gift giving list.

All it takes is a few simple folds and an embellishment for the front and you are done. The Simply Scored makes this project a breeze.

You start with a 9 3/4" X 3 1/2" piece of card stock for the base. You will score at 3 1/4" and 6 1/2". Cut an angle on the far right flap and then fold inward. Glue that flap down on the left side and the bottom to make a pocket. Stamp and embellish for a finished candy folder. See the video below to see the pocket made from start to finish.

Petite Pocket Place Card for Thanksgiving Dinner!

When you are decorating your Thanksgiving table, you could use these darling Petite Pockets as a place card. When you open the pocket there is a scalloped rectangle piece of card stock to write a message to your guest.

The Big Shot and the Petite Pockets die makes this pocket a snap to make. It is cut out with one pass through the Big Shot. Assemble the pocket and then stamp. I simply hand wrote the name at the bottom of the card. The leaf is cut with the Leaves #2 Die and the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper.

The pocket is held closed by a loop of Linen thread. All you have to do is to slip it off to open the pocket.

You can easily change up the colors of the pocket to match your Thanksgiving table decor. I hope you have fun making your place cards.
